Born in 1904 in Opatija, a lawyer by profession, Gervais left us with a collection of dialect poems, several plays (he was the quartermaster of the Rijeka theater) and stories and it's pretty much everything. 
However, this handful of simple verses has raised generations. He died in 1957. in Sežana and was buried in Opatija. His monument was placed in front of the school in Opatija, which bears his name.
