The story goes back to the 1242nd year when King Béla IV during the invasion of the Tatars took refuge in the city Kalnik named mountain slopes. Tatars besieged Kalnik would not starving soldiers and forced to surrender. But Kalnik peasants feed the crew of plums and Bela IV and so Tatars forced to abandon the siege. As a sign of gratitude King Bela IV was split defenders Kalnika noble titles sparking outrage "Križevci purgers." Many years of intolerance and disagreements were interrupted by marriage Kalnik plum and town girl.
