The start of the Maritime Collection is a collection of 1958th year, thanks to the efforts of the then members of the Institute of Historical and Economic Sciences Academy in Zadar began to create unotar and institutions. In 1966. collection was officially opened today, although not officially registered.

In the exhibition halls of the permanent exhibition of maritime history, in chronological order in three exhibition halls and one smaller room:
a) The prehistoric and Roman period,
b) the period of early Croatian Maritime Affairs,

d) the period of modern motor shipping (with special about the whole tragedy of the tanker "Peter Zoranic").
In front of the building set is a collection of iron ship anchors.
