By building dry stone walls residents of Praputnjak turned extremely steep, rugged and rocky slopes of the Bakar Bay into a slope suitable for growing grapes. That is how the famous "Bakar dry stone walls" were build, so now grapes for the famous sparkling wine "Bakarska vodica" grow here. This wine was served in European capitals and even exported to North America. Bakar dry stone walls today are a remarkable monument of the struggle and cooperation between man and nature. Accordingly Bakar dry stone walls were declared a cultural monument in 1972. and are included in the register of cultural monuments. Visiting this site will definitely leave you breathless. The location is 150-200 meters above sea level. Due to the steep slopes you get a feeling that you can jump into the sea, but underneath you is a series of dry stone walls that are cascading into the sea and then disappear into the blue.... Something unique.
