CARNIVAL RIJEKA, 17.01.- 05.03.

As they say in unison all the citizens of Rijeka, Rijeka has five seasons, and this fifth season is carnival time.

Rijeka Tourist Board in order to preserve the ancient traditions of this region since 1982. organizes the carnival which is the central event of the carnival procession through the city of Rijeka as a kind of festival of traditional carnival masks and urban groups. As they say in unison all the citizens of Rijeka, Rijeka has five seasons, and this fifth season is carnival time. With its long tradition and the influence on the community, the Rijeka Carnival, the largest and most famous event in the Kvarner region and more recently the most recognizable image of the city of Rijeka. Rijeka Carnival is unique and is perceived as personally prepared with love. For the citizens of Rijeka Carnival is not just a mask on his face, but also a way of life. Rijeka Carnival has grown to mesopusnoj tradition of coastal regions, and the long continuity has become the most important carnival in Croatia.

Carnival was added to the list of 500 most important events in Europe (European Top 500 Events), and Sunday Times declared him one of the most exotic events in the world.
