The Croatian Museum of Tourism is a specialized national museum institute founded in 2007 that collects, preserves, researches and presents the material and non-material heritage of a touristic content. Among the fundamental tasks of the institution is the collection of data with regard to all relevant sources and potential museum exhibits which are important for the history of Croatian tourism.

The Museum disposes of three buildings: Villa Angiolina, the “Juraj Šporer ” Artistic Pavilion and the Swiss House. Villa Angiolina is the oldest villa in Opatija located in central Opatija’s park area and is the headquarters of the Museum. Throughout its history many historical figures have visited or stayed there. The most famous among them is surely the Emperor of Austria and King of Hungary, Franz Joseph II. Other members of the Habsburg family also stayed in the villa as well as the Ban of Croatia, Josip Jelačić.  A continuous museum exhibition takes place in one of the most beautiful showrooms in Croatia, at the “Juraj Šporer” Artistic Pavilion, which is close to the parish church of Saint James. Swiss House, which is located in the Park Angiolina, one of the three buildings of the Croatian Museum of Tourism, and it is home to a display which shows the history of this town. The House even today brings a breath of Alps in Opatija with its characteristic roof, wooden parts of the facade and wooden windows and letterboxes for flowers under the window.

From July 10, 2015 Villa Angiolini in the exhibition "From travelers to tourists and of the host to the landlord: Pioneers of tourism on the Adriatic".
The story of the reversal of private concept of receiving guests to a professional in tourism, told through their private, family, very personal and thus very true memories, family members from three small towns: Lombarda, Old Novalja and Žuljane. These three locations were chosen precisely because it is not a big tourist center and just because it is in them still visible today very process of admission of passengers in their kitchens, in their lives, in their own way every day. We do not doubt that the visitors of the exhibition to recognize these stories and the occasional your memory.
Also, the Villa Angiolini can view the exhibition "Oprostite..a how to Učka?" - Collection of Dr. Albin Eder, the Viennese doctor who worked in Lovran become an intrinsic part of the history of health tourism in the northern Adriatic. Eder takes over a project in question was previously discussed, and which he considered crucial for enhancing the reputation Lovran Spa. It was the idea of the road network Učka to the coast, which would make a mountain range in the hinterland of Lovran become part of tourism. Its vision is the development of climate health resort by the sea that little electric train was associated with high-altitude resort below Učka.
For younger visitors we have prepared an interactive game, "coach etiquette". It is a game (interactive spatial installation) for children where they solve a quiz about the behavior of tourists and hosts, and the workshop will be on the wall of the museum will be able to enter their ideas.
The Swiss house, the building near Villa Angiolina an exhibition "Greetings from Opatija" which shows the history of Opatija, with special emphasis on the history of tourism. The biggest attraction is a model that shows how the center of Opatija appeared around 1900.
Near the Girl with the Seagull is located Art Pavilion "Juraj Sporer" where the Croatian Museum of Tourism maintains a continuous gallery activities.
