Municipal Museum of Vinkovci was established on 7 XI. 1946th year. and the basic holdings accounted purchase the collection Mate MEDVEDOVIĆ which they later joined the archaeological collection of Matthias Klein, donated numismatic collection Benko Horvat. The first exhibition was realized in 1948. passes only exposed archaeological material. The current museum building moves 1950th whatever. using only the first floor, and after a thorough adaptation opens permanent 1952nd whatever.
The concept of the permanent exhibition was Man hunter and fisherman with exposed objects from prehistory to 1945. whatever. From the first to the present holdings of the Museum has amassed a large amount of cultural material through archaeological excavation, numerous acquisitions and slightly fewer gifts. Today the museum has no permanent collection complete but it is a policy of systematically opening of the permanent exhibition by department, so after the Ethnological department in line Archaeological Department, and speed of implementation depends on financial considerations.
