
CASTLE JANUŠEVEC
The most beautiful Classicist castle in Croatia.
Six miles west of Zaprešić, the most beautiful Classicist castle in Croatia is located. It built, apparently around 1830. by the general Vrkljan, minister of Maria Luisa, Duchess of Parma, second wife of Napoleon. Plans were probably made by B. Felbinger. Later, the 1845., the castle was bought by E. Corberon.. In May 1945. was damaged by the explosion. Renovation is completed in 70-ies. Floor plan of the castle is rectangular, the main axis, north-south, is highlighted with porticos with pillars, and on the west side of the lodge. The central hall has a round dome diameter of eight meters and is 11 meters high. Some of the rooms of the castle Januševec were decorated with paintings of panoramic views of different cities.
