
OLD FORT SLOVIN IN SLUNJ
The medieval town of Slunj was first mentioned in written records in 1390. year. It was built originally for residential purposes feudal lords of Krk Dukes Frankopana as polygonal, heptagonal building, inside which there was a palace and probably auxiliary facilities.
Strategically favorable position on a steep, rocky cliff that surrounds three sides of the river Slunjcica, has been used as an essential part of the defense system in the 16th century, when the threat of the Turks, the city further defines the eastern side of the outer ring of defensive walls with semi and protective trench. In the early 15th century, first mentioned Slunj village on the opposite bank Slunjčica, roughly today the Square Zrinski and Frankopan. His oldest core makes spiritual center - a Franciscan monastery with a church, probably on the site of the present parish church, and a number of civilian buildings around a square, and surrounded by a wall on the south and west, the unprotected side. Defense masonry medieval village was completely destroyed.
