MAUSOLEUM AND CASTLE PEJACEVIC, OSIJEK

A significant portion of classicism in Croatia.

Pejacevic Castle is located in the former village Retfala, today suburb of Osijek. The castle was built by Count Sigismund (Sigismund) Pejacevic, 1801., according to the inscription on the front. However, construction begun several years earlier, probably the 1796.. Retfala manor belonged to the counts of Pejacevic Grant Austrian empress and Croatian-Hungarian Empress Maria Theresa in 1750. In the beginning it was a relatively small estate.
