CANYON OF ČIKOLA RIVER

The site is protected since 1965. Čikola is the largest tributary of the Krka river, with a source near the village Cavoglave, flows through town of Drnis and enters into the river Krka at Lake Torak.

Part of Čikola, which is protected as an important landscape, is stretching from Drnis to about 1 km downstream of the new bridge over the Čikola.
This area is characterized by a very deep canyon, which is remarkable geomorphological phenomena, and the site is extremely important as a hydrological phenomenon in karst. The canyon is deep in places up to 170 m.
