It was mentioned on 20 August 1181st in one Charter of the Croatian-Hungarian King Bela III.
It occupies an area of 1261.29 m2, consists of the six cities and 22 municipalities and is home to 184,769 inhabitants.

Varaždin County is famous for its Baroque splendour, its music and art, and its unspoilt wild-life and unique scenery.
