Zirje is, with an area of 15.43 km2, the largest of all the islands in the Sibenik archipelago.

The island streches in a Dinaric direction. It is 12 km long, with an average width of 1.2 km and 2.5 km maximum. Around the island there are numerous beautiful islands. Numerous bays result with a long coastline (39.2 km). As a shelter for small boats serve and Vela Stupica and Tratinska Bays. Zirje is known for its natural beauty, clear and blue sea and some very interesting cultural and historical monuments.
