RED LAKE, IMOTSKI

There are more than 16 million cubic meters of drinking water which never dries up.

Red Lake is a karstic cave filled with water near Imotski. Croatian Speleological Federation in 1998. organized international Cavediving expedition, during which they accurately measured the altitude difference of 528 meters between bottom and top of the depression and the depth of the lake is 281 meters which, according to some sources, makes it the deepest lake in Europe. The lake was formed when the cave ceiling collapsed.
