Pantan swamp, near Trogir, is all that remained of the once much larger swamp. Throughout the centuries, this vast wetland is increasingly reduced due to geological processes and urbanization. However, Pantan wetland is valuable today as a typical example of a swamp on the eastern Adriatic coast, where fresh and salt water mix, which creates a special biocenosis.
