
TOMISLAV MARETIĆ
Well known Slavist, and his most valuable work of grammar and stylistics of Croatian or Serbian language.
Well known Slavist, was born in Virovitica. He attended secondary school in Varazdin, Pozega and, at the Philosophy Faculty in Zagreb, studied linguistics. He received his Ph.D. in 1883. Slavic studies, scientific papers published in the Academy, and was its president. Most are devoted to lexicology (The folk names of the Croats and Serbs), and editor of the Dictionary of the Academy. His most notable work of grammar and stylistics of Croatian or Serbian language. As a professor at the Faculty of Arts and was interested in literature and translations of classic works. He translated the Iliad and Odyssey.
