
HAPPY TOWN OF RAB - FELIX ARBA
Rab is one of a small number of Croatian settlement whose history dates back to pre-Roman times.
This small town is located on a small peninsula between the bay of St. Euphemia and the harbor, with four towers that constitute its distinctive character.
Emperor Octavian Augustus (1st century BC.) raised the walls and towers to defend the city. Then Rab became a Roman municipality. In II. or III. century Rome gave the city of Rab gave an amphora. which had the inscription "Felix Arba". Felix means happy, rich. This title is awarded to emphasize its merits, its impact or significance. Felix Arba (happy Rab) was a common name for the cities of that time, but the name actually reflects the wealth of the town of Rab. During those happy times many buildings, temples and monuments were built.
