Area of Primorje-Gorski Kotar County is divided into three regions - the mountainous, coastal and island region - covering an area of 3,582 km2. According to the census of in 2001. year Primorje-Gorski Kotar County has a total population of 305,505 and according to share of 6.9%, is the fifth largest in the Republic of Croatia. Primorje-Gorski Kotar County encompasses 14 cities and 22 municipalities and 536 villages. The largest islands in the Kvarner bay are Krk, Cres, Losinj, Rab and Pag. In the Kvarner bay is the largest Croatian port Rijeka.
It is a region of diverse stories and strong emotions, rich cultural and historical heritage and great tourist offer and active holidays. The same day you can sail a yacht or can swim in the sea, and later enjoy the shade of the nearby wooded interior. Winter in hinterland of Rijeka offers an experience to remember: you can ski or sledge with a sea view! Only in Kvarner you can watch the flight of the griffon vulture and adopt a dolphin.

Croatia is a European country and is part of the Mediterranean, as it occupies most of the coastline of the Adriatic Sea with the islands. Includes Dinara mountain range, which separates the Mediterranean part from mid-European continental, and part of the Pannonian Basin. The mainland part of the Croatian is 56 594 km2, and the surface of the coastal sea 31,479 km2, and the entire area has 4,290,612 inhabitants. Economic, political and cultural center is the capital city of Zagreb with 792,875 inhabitants. Of 1244 islands and islets, 50 of them are inhabited, and the largest are Cres and Krk. The official currency is the kuna.
