
TOUNJ
The old town Tounj first mentioned in historical sources 1481st under the name Thouni.
Tounjski fort was then in possession of Stephen Frankopan, and only the name of forts and settlements originated from the word chthonic (Tonje) which means "deep water", "lake" which corresponds to the spatial location of the river above Tounjèica. The most important cultural monument Tounj the 12-meter two-story stone bridge with three openings across the river Tounjčica. The first floor was built in 1775th The second floor was added and the 1836th year. This is the only such bridge in Croatia and this part of Europe. Before the bridge, built on the base is placed a statue of a Roman soldier in 1775.
