Among the many stories and facts relating to the great traveler and writer Marco Polo, we will mention one , a naval battle between the Venetians and the Genovese on September 7th 1298. when Marco Polo himself was, as commander of the Venetian galleys, captured and detained in prison in Genoa. If not for the battle of Korcula perhaps the world would never have found out about this great figure from the second half of the 13th century.
