CATHEDRAL TREASURY, DUBROVNIK
Dubrovnik cathedral of the Assumption is the 18th century, built in Baroque style in place earlier Romanesque cathedral from the 12th century, which was destroyed in the great earthquake of 1667.
Construction of the Romanesque cathedral is linked to the legend of Richard the Lionheart, who according to legend, returning from the third crusade destroyed in a storm and escaped to the island of Lokrum and gratitude as he gave a certain sum for the completion of Mary Cathedral. Today is a special request can visit the crypt located under the baroque cathedral.
The cathedral is located reliquary with the relics of 132 saints dating from the 11th to 19 century, and are invaluable relics of the head, arms and legs St. Blaise, Dubrovnik's goldsmiths work
and dated between 11 and 12 c.
