CROATIAN NATIONAL THEATRE AND FOUNTAIN OF LIFE
Many of the best Croatian artists have worked at the Croatian National Theatre, Ivan Zajc was the first conductor of the theater, James Gotovac was the conductor of the opera theater since 1923. since 1958., a famous Croatian director Branko Gavella began his brilliant career here, and the prima donnas of the first Croatian Slavic Mia Corak.
In one hundered and fitthy year old history, the Croatian National Theatre has given the pleiades of greatest artists and writers, actors, directors, set and costume designer, world famous opera and ballet principals, conductors and choreographers.
From the very beginning, the repertoire of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb was very rich and various including the world classics, national tradition and contemporary works.
Fountain of Life is a masterpiece of the famous Croatian sculptor Ivan Mestrovic created in the early 20th century. The Fountain was built in 1912th on the square in front of the National Theatre in Zagreb.
