Dubrovnik-Neretva County is the southernmost county in the Republic of Croatia territorially is divided into 22 units of local government, and 5 cities (Dubrovnik, Korcula, Ploce, Metkovic and the Opuzen) and the 17 municipalities. The county occupies an area of 9,272.37 km2, and according to the 2001 census, in the County lives 122,870 residents.
Dubrovnik-Neretva County makes a very large number of valuable cultural assets. The city of Dubrovnik was 1979th added on UNESCO list of World Heritage Sites. Also there is 1436 protected historical buildings, churches, monasteries and other religious buildings and the complexes, ancient fortresses and the forts, walls, necropolis, explored and the unexplored archaeological sites, ancient bridges and summerhouses.
Great importance has arboretum in Trsteno - the oldest Renaissance park in Dalmatia (according to the inscription 1502.), and today the only arboretum in the Mediterranean part of the Croatian. In addition it is worth noting that the county has seven special reserves, Mljet National Park and the the youngest Croatian Nature Park Lastovo Islands, one of the best preserved sea areas in the Adriatic. Of cultural attractions are significant town center of Ston and the Korcula and Dubrovnik city center consisting of Stradun, Orlando's Column, Sponza Palace, and Rector's Palace and the the city walls.

Includes Dinara mountain range, which separates the Mediterranean part from mid-European continental, and part of the Pannonian Basin. The mainland part of the Croatian is 56 594 km2, and the surface of the coastal sea 31,479 km2, and the entire area has 4,290,612 inhabitants. Economic, political and cultural center is the capital city of Zagreb with 792,875 inhabitants. Of 1244 islands and islets, 50 of them are inhabited, and the largest are Cres and Krk. The official currency is the kuna.
