It is created by building damn on river Vuka in 1978. The lake has an area of 160 hectares with a depth up to 15 m and length of approximately 7000 m, average width of approximately 300 m and total water capacity of 8.5 million m³. At the site of the present lake was once a settlement Borovik after which it was named. 
Borovik was one of the most attractive place for carp fishing (carps weighing up to 30 kg) and perch fishing (weighing 2 kg or more) in Croatia and this part of Europe.
