
PARISH CHURCH OF THE ASSUMPTION OF THE BLESSED VIRGIN MARY, RAB
he parish church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary was the cathedral until the 1828th when Rab was repealed diocese.
Aisled basilica in Romanesque style built on the site where there was a small church from the 8th st, from which the new church built only a few details. The lower part of the facade is broken down into two rows of blind arcades, a pediment decorated with rosettes.
15th century comes easy Renaissance portal where the Pieta - Mary with Jesus taken down from the cross. Inside the church, although architecturally simple, raises particular attention because of the church choir, the chestnut tree in 1445, and the characteristic ciborium-altar. Church's organ 1756th by esteemed architect Petar Nakic. Church's 1177th consecrated by Pope Alexander III en route from Zadar to Rome.
