Pazin is the administrative center of the Istrian County and still in the 19th century, largely due to the central position on the peninsula, but also of its importance, the town earned the name "heart of Istria." A fascinating picture of the medieval fortress of Pazin - Castle, situated 130 meters above a deep chasm, in which Pazinčica influences into the cave, inspired the famous French writer Jules Verne to the plot of his novel "Mathias Sandorf", published 1885th years, placed exactly in this neighborhood. In Pazin there is also The club of Jules Verne and manifestation  "The days of Jules Verne" are held every year in late June.
