Battle near Savudrija has divided historians into two groups. According to some this event is one of the legends, and in others it is the truth. This battle occurred in 1177th between the Venetian galleys one the one side and galleys of Pazin on the other. The latter have sided with the Emperor Frederic Barbarossa, and there were 75, while the Venetian galleys, equipped thanks to the Istrian cities, any top 30.  It is written to the Doge Sebastiano Ziani hid in the Piran Bay and suddenly attacked enemy ships and won. There were 48 ships captured and Barbarossin son, Otto. Four ships were sunk and others were able to sail. In Savudrija on All Saints Day held celebration in honor of this event and to the general pardon of Pope Alexander III. The fresco depicting the battle was destroyed in 1577th in a fire that swept through the hall of the Great Council in Venice.
